Final Model

Evaluation:

My 3D face is finished now and I am quite satisfied with it. I wish I had more time to make it more accurate and realistic, but for 5 week time it is a good start. I really enjoyed modelling the face, making the mask and correcting it to look the same as in reality. Unfortunately I did not have enough time to make the skin perfect, it was a little bit complicated to make it in photoshop, especially when different parts have different skin types- like on face and on the neck. I did not like the hair which I made in photoshop, so I made the hair in 3Ds max which looks much better, but as it was done on week 5 only, I could not make it perfect as I need more practice.
Moreover, I could not make the ear due to the side picture I had, as the ear is hidden by hear.
Generally talking, this module is very interesting and it helps to develop 3Ds max skills every year better and better. I feel more confident using the program, I also learnt new modelling techniques and I enjoyed the assessment.

My finished model:

Finished model

I think this model has something common with me, but not 100% of course. I believe, if I had more time it would be much better, but for 5 week learning it is pretty good.

I could not see myself without eyes , so I created 2 spheres and applied to them the eye as a material which I could position with UVW map gizmo.

Then I was creating a bump map from the colour map.
I went to the photoshop, created a new layer and chose the grey colour. Then, I made a copy of the background layer and came to Layer-Ajustments-Disaturated, so it turned grey.

Later I came to Image-Ajustments-Levels, where I could make it lighter or darker.

Finally, I went to Filter-Other-High pass.

So, it was saved and rendered in 3Ds max. I clicked on bitmap and chose mix where was the colour 2, I clicked none and chose noise. I chose Fractal, changed the size to 0.001 and changed the mix amount to 100%. I also changed the noise map Tiling to 3. It made the material look better, but mine was not that good as the tutorial shows.

Later, I decided to make myself better hear as this looks a little bit weird.
So, I selected the hair with paint tool.

And chose the hair in modify panel, which I could cut or comb later.

I also created a morpher from my head model without material.

First of all, I copied the head (clone as copy), or it can be done by holding shift. Then, I named them as ''open mouth'' and ''eyebrows''. Later on, I started to open the mouth in aditable poly using polygon selection and dragging it down. The same was done with the 3rd head moving the eyebrows. So, going back to the main head I went to the modify panel and selected Morpher.
On the right panel there were many icons named EMPTY, so I right clicked on it and selected the head I wanted- open mouth. So, if I made it from 0 to 100 the changes could be seen on the main head. The same was done with the eyebrows.
After all that, I clicked on the auto key and moving mouth and eyebrows on different minutes of the timeline made a video. I rendered it and saved as an AVI file.

Photoshop result

When I finished making my face material the picture looked like that:

But when I applied it to the 3DS max it looked really ugly, the hear was totally wrong and the face was not that good so, I had to changeit again checking it in the program sometimes.

Finally I finished with the picture which looks like that:

This was much better looking when I opened it in 3Ds max, clicking M and selecting it as a bitmap material.

Making a face material

Photoshop.

I opened the 2D picture in photoshop and created a new layer calling it GUIDE. Then, I chose a blue colour and going to EDIT-FILL made sure it is foreground colour, so it made the screen blue. I copied the black and white picture and going to Guide layer and pasted it in quick mask mode and it turned pink.

So, I clicked on edit in standart mode and the lines of the face appeared on the blue screen.

I clicked on add layer mask and my picture turned into this one and I applied the layer mask.

Then, I created a new layer and opened another psd file (th
e side and front pictures of me) which I was using for my topology. So, after I was just cutting the parts of my face from the photo and pasting them to my 2D grid.

I had something like that done and merging the layers I saved this file and checked it in 3Ds max program to see if everything is good.

My 3Ds max showed that:

So I continued with photoshop and applied all the skin and hear.

Later on, I selected symmetry and going to the modify panel I chose Unwrap UVW, so then going to edit and selecting one part from actual model I clicked mirror so on 2D sketch the mirrored part appeared. After that was done, I positioned them together and welded middle points holding CTRL + W. In options I changed the width and heigh so the sketch elongated and resized it within the box. Then in Tools I selected render UVW template. I changed the width for 2048 and heigh for 1024 and clicked render.

I also tried normal render.
